Every once in awhile a product comes along and you say to yourself, “Why didn’t I think of that.” It usually is because the product is so practical and can solve a multitude of problems – and on top of that – it is simple to use.

ChordSavers is one of those products. Do you want proof? I put the product to the test and here are some before and after photos I just took today using a 3′ section of ChordSavers.

Finally, and this is my favorite, my wife always wanted me to do something with the “mess” of wires that run all over the wall under our computer table. It’s not really that bad is it? Well, here once again, ChordSavers comes to the rescue and really makes me a believer!

To say the least, I am very impressed.

The idea for this product came about when a few musicians thought about how many times they would trip over or step on cables running to the amps, guitars, speakers, microphones and every other place on the stage.

Being in a band for years myself, I can’t tell you how many times somebody spilled a drink on the cables or dropped a heavy piece of equipment on a wire and you go to plug in your guitar and wonder what happened.

The Ultimate Home Theater Room Is Coming To a Basement Near You!

Below you will find thumbnails of the full size plan and details of the above  Home Theater layout. This great design will fit into many of today’s new home basements,  but could also be planned around a special room anywhere in the house.  My goal is to build an archive of home theater rooms from ones as large as this to the “space starved” homes that still want the luxury of the theater experience.

I have left the wall coverings and other design details up to you or your interior designer.  It always worked best for me when building a Home Theater room for a client,  to work closely with an experienced designer such as Linda Russell of Russell Interior Design.  Together we could create a truly outstanding Home Theater Environment.

The plan below is set up for a 7.1 Dolby Digital Surround System,  but can be modified for a 5.1 as well.  You will note that the stage that is built on the screen wall has 3 built in speaker compartments that can be custom designed to fit the right & left  front speaker and the center front speaker as well.

This plan is designed for a minium ceiling height of 104″ which works perfectly in a basement that has a 13 course block foundation.  A 14 course foundation would even be more ideal.

From your car’s computer to your home computer!

The check engine light comes on,  DON’T PANIC!  I know that I have written about car diagnostic tools before but this is the cream of the crop.  The reason is because not only does the CarMD connect to your car’s on board computer  port and give you a diagnostic read out,  but you can then connect it to your home computer by way of the included USB  adapter.

Once connected to your home computer, you will then go to the CarMD website to de-code the read out data on the screen of the CarMD.  If there is more then one diagnostic trouble code,  the scroll button on the unit lets you view them quickly and easily.

Another great feature of the CarMD is three color LED light read out. The green, yellow and red lights give you a quick means of knowing  if you car’s engine systems are running normally.  Green means everything is working fine,  yellow means you need to check things out, and red means there is a problem.
